5 common health mistakes people do” I do yoga, go to gym, boot camps, go for run but I do not lose weight, I feel tight and get stressed at times. Why is this happening?”

” I am physically active, but I feel tightness in whole body”

” I do not have time for yoga. The timing, location does not suit me”

I come across these questions very often.

From my experience teaching and talking to many people on daily basis , I see 5 common health mistakes people do for taking care of their health and health regime.

1.    Not including Yoga in their health regime

Yoga is the highest form of exercise for mind and body. Unlike other forms gym, bootcamps etc, which are focused on physical body. Though they are good to keep physically active, but it does not help in holistic way. Yoga needs to be part of routine which is more sustainable health regime. I have seen many people turned to yoga after rigorous bootcamps. Yoga can provide everything strength, stamina, flexibility, mental focus and peace and energy.

Yoga means addition – addition of energy, strength and beauty to body, mind and soul.”

2.    Not being consistent

For anything in life to show results and benefits, we need to be consistent. I have seen people who get motivated to do activities and after a while give up. Also, we have other issues in our life which stops us being consistent but if you set your health as priority, you will find a way to take time some time for exercise, yoga or meditation. When you are consistent, then only you can enjoy the benefits or else you will blame the process like yoga not helping me than to the efforts.

We all have to start somewhere, and doing something is better than nothing at all. Start small so you don’t get discouraged and give up. Remember it is all about consistency. Khloe Kardashian

3.    Not keeping health as a priority

This Is the common issue among women. They give importance to everything kids, jobs, family friends but not herself. Mostly people start taking charge of their health when something goes wrong like increase in BP, diagnosed with diabetes and so on. Giving priority means keeping time for yourself everyday eg: 30 min yoga every day or will attend min 3 yoga sessions every week. When you set this priority right, you will try to keep it up to it.

If it is important to you, you will find a way . If not you will find an excuse.

4.    Instant gratification rather than sustainable health

Whenever we have problem, we try to find quick fixes. Like taking pills whenever get headaches, taking sleeping pills in case of insomnia, taking antidepressants in depression. But if some pain or health issue is consistent, it always indicates there is something wrong. So, we rather than going to root cause of the problem, we find quick fixes which works on symptoms but not on root cause.Yogic techniques and therapies help an individual to go to root cause of the problem and it also works as preventive measure.

But to my observation people are happy to take that quick roots but not wanting to invest in holistic and sustainable health.

“We’ve become so addicted to instant gratification that we’re blind to the impact it has on our lives.”

Frank Sonnenberg

5.    Stress is part of daily life

Some level of stress is needed for an individual to take actions, initiatives and growth. But consistent and chronic stress affects every part of life health, sleep, relationships, concentration, performance. But lot of people think that stress is part of life, which we can’t avoid. Yes, there are few things which we can’t avoid but we can avoid how we respond to that situation. And mind it, stress is the root cause of most of the autoimmune diseases. Yoga and meditation are the best tools to reduce stress.

So, if one or more of the above things you consciously or unconsciously follow while taking care of your health, it’s time to rethink.

Give priority to health, choosing right health regime which are not quickies but helps nurture you in holistic way which also keeps stress level down.

When you do that You will…

Look Good, Feel Good.

You will be always

 healthy and happy !
