Kids need more than physical activity. They need ways to manage big emotions, sit still when it matters, and feel good in their own bodies. At Ojas Yoga & Wellness, our kids yoga classes give children ages 5 to 12  a weekly space for that, led by certified instructors trained specifically in child-centred yoga, across our Joo Chiat, OUE Downtown and Serangoon studios.

Start with a $25 trial class, no commitment needed. If your child enjoys it, step up to the 4-class package at $100.

Why Parents Choose Ojas for Kids Yoga

Every class is led by an instructor certified specifically in kids’ yoga, not a general adult instructor teaching down to children. That distinction matters. Children’s attention spans, joint development and emotional needs are different from adults’, and the class structure reflects that: shorter segments, more movement variety, and games woven between poses rather than a static sequence.

Classes stay small so every child gets individual attention, and nothing is competitive. A child who can’t hold a pose isn’t corrected in front of the group; they’re guided at their own pace. That’s what keeps shy or easily-distracted kids coming back.

What Happens in a Class

Each session blends yoga poses, breathing exercises, balance work and short relaxation moments. Children move through poses built around animals and everyday objects, which makes the postures easier to remember and fun to repeat at home. Breathing exercises come next, giving kids a concrete tool to use when they’re overwhelmed, not just in class but at school or before a test. For a full breakdown of the specific poses we teach and how to modify them at home, our poses guide covers age-appropriate variations in detail.

Benefits Backed by Research, Not Just Marketing

Regular yoga practice is linked to measurable gains in children’s focus, memory and stress regulation. Marlynn Wei, MD, JD, writing for Harvard Health Publishing, points to a growing body of research connecting yoga practice in children to improved focus, memory, self-esteem and classroom behaviour. Separately, a 2016 systematic review of 47 school-based yoga programmes found consistent improvements in students’ emotional and behavioural wellbeing across school settings in the US and India.

What that looks like in practice: better listening skills, steadier reactions to frustration, and children who can name what they’re feeling instead of just acting it out. We go deeper into these outcomes, including how they show up week to week, in our guide to the benefits of kids yoga classes.

What should my child wear or bring?

Comfortable, stretchable clothing and a water bottle. Mats are provided at the studio.

How is kids yoga different from adult yoga?

Shorter segments, more movement and games between poses, and no competitive element. Instructors are certified specifically in teaching children, not adult practice adapted down.
